Groundwork for Empowerment

Insights from Our 2023 E-Commerce Awareness Session at Government Commerce College

Every meaningful social movement begins long before official certificates are signed or administrative structures are finalized. Sustainable community development grows from early, persistent effort, identifying real challenges on the ground, listening to young people, and responding with practical guidance.

While LIVE Association (LeriLi Initiative for Vision & Empowerment) achieved its official registration on August 31, 2026 under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Ordinance, this milestone was the result of years of grassroots engagement across southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Long before formal incorporation, our founding team was actively working in colleges and community spaces to address the growing digital divide

A prime example of this early groundwork took place on March 21, 2023, when social worker and entrepreneur Muhammad Mustafa facilitated an E-Commerce Awareness Session at Government Commerce College in Dera Ismail Khan. The session gathered 50+ students and working youth for a realistic discussion on digital skills, online marketplaces, and ethical career pathways in Pakistan’s evolving economy.

For commerce students across Pakistan’s regional hubs, traditional academic curricula provide essential foundational knowledge in accounting, economics, and business administration. However, as trade increasingly migrates to digital channels, textbook theory alone can leave a significant gap between graduation and employment.

In districts like Dera Ismail Khan, talent and ambition are abundant. What is missing is consistent access to verified practical guidance. Without clear mentorship, young adults attempting to navigate the online landscape face two major hurdles: a lack of hands-on technical familiarity and a high exposure to misleading online schemes, deceptive course promotions, and get-rich-quick claims.

Addressing this gap requires introducing students to genuine, work-intensive digital disciplines before they complete their studies.

What Happened on March 21, 2023: Practical Digital Skills in Focus

The session at Government Commerce College No. 2 was designed as an interactive, practical orientation rather than a theoretical lecture. Facilitated by Muhammad Mustafa, the workshop walked 50+ attendees through the actual mechanisms of modern online trade, emphasizing that digital work requires structure, discipline, and continuous learning.

Participants discussed how local seller ecosystems operate within Pakistan. The session covered the basics of setting up a seller profile on Daraz.pk, understanding buyer-seller dynamics, product listing hygiene, and managing fulfillment logistics in regional cities.

Building Independent Web Assets with WordPress & WooCommerce

Beyond third-party marketplaces, attendees were introduced to independent web platforms. Muhammad Mustafa demonstrated how open-source software like WordPress combined with WooCommerce enables small businesses, freelancers, and artisans to create and manage their own digital storefronts without requiring complex code.

Navigating the Digital Economy Safely: Awareness Over the Hype

A critical portion of the session was dedicated to digital safety and realistic expectations. In an environment where social media is flooded with claims of “passive income” and instant wealth, the session reinforced clear boundaries:

  1. Digital Trade is Real Business: Managing an e-commerce store requires product sourcing, customer communication, inventory management, and financial discipline.
  2. Skills Take Time to Build: Learning WordPress, WooCommerce, or marketplace operations requires practice, trial, and error—not overnight shortcuts.
  3. Verification Habits Matter: Students were encouraged to critically evaluate online opportunities, avoiding programs that demand upfront investments without offering transparent skill training.

From Early Action to Formal Mission: The Roots of LIVE Association

Our motto—“Live to Empower, Lead to Inspire”—is more than a tagline. It reflects a consistent journey from individual initiative to institutional organization.

The 2023 session at Government Commerce College No. 2 serves as clear evidence that problem identification and solution-oriented work were active in our community long before formal incorporation[cite: 1, 2]. These early interactions helped shape the core pillars that define LIVE Association today:

  • Innovation Lab: Our pillar for practical skill building, digital literacy, and bridging academic learning with hands-on practice.
  • Anti-Scam Hub: Our initiative to promote consumer awareness, combat deceptive income claims, and encourage safe online practices.
  • Hunar Marketplace: Our vision to connect local talent, artisans, and independent creators with real market opportunities.

Looking Ahead: Practical Next Steps for Students

Empowerment is an ongoing process that begins with curiosity and grows through structured action. For students and young professionals seeking to develop genuine digital skills:

  • Focus on Fundamentals: Start by mastering open-source tools like WordPress or understanding basic inventory management.
  • Build Practical Projects: Practice setting up store layouts or writing clear product descriptions for real or hypothetical local businesses.
  • Verify Online Information: Double-check training offers and avoid schemes that promise guaranteed financial returns.

LIVE Association remains committed to fostering an ecosystem where talent across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s districts can access verified knowledge, practical mentorship, and meaningful growth.
